The snack is a good option for evening breakfast or used as a starter in the wedding ceremony. It is prepared with boiled potatoes aromatic spices and herbs. Ingredients For Aloo Tikki Chaat:-

  • 4 medium  boil  potatoes  (peeled and mashed)
  • Finely chopped green chilli
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves.
  •  2 tbsp of breadcrumbs
  •  Salt
  •  Oil
  •  Half a tablespoon of red chilli powder

For Making Chat

  • Green chutney
  • Date- tamarind chutney
  • Sev
  • Finely chopped onion
  • Chat masala
  • 1 cup beaten curd

Tips and tricks:-

To make aloo tikki chaat firstly take four medium-sized potatoes. Rinse and peel it properly. Now switch on the flame and put a pressure cooker on it. Pour 4 medium-sized peeled potatoes into a pressure cooker. Add one cup of water to it and set the lid well. Then cook it in a pressure cooker till the first whistle goes off.

After the whistling of the pressure cooker remove from the heat and wait till the pressure releases. Now open the lid of the pressure cooker and drain the excess water from the boiled potatoes. Then grate or mash it well from the masher. Now add spices to it but ensure that the mashed potatoes are completely cooled before adding other ingredients. If you add ingredients in the hot condition of mashed potatoes then the bread crumbs will be sticky.

When mashed potatoes are being cooled mix all spices in it. In spices, we add some finely chopped coriander leaves, chopped green chilli and chaat masala. Then add ½ tbsp red chilli powder and mix it well. Now add salt to it according to taste. Mix well them. Then add a little amount of about 2 tbsp of breadcrumbs in it for binding. Use your hands and mix them well properly.

Now take a small amount of the mixture into your palm and form round patties in the shape of tikkies. Here the raw tikkies are ready to fry. Put all round-shaped tikkies on one side of the table and Heat a pan on a medium flame for 3 to 5 minutes. Then pour oil and heat it well. Now place the tikki on it one by one for shallow fry. Cook the tikkies for 5-6 minutes and turn on both sides. when the tikkies are turned firmly and golden, then it is confirmed that aloo tikki is ready for eating.

For making aloo tikki chat place the tikki on a plate. Then topping it with beaten curd. After the curd layer, top it with green chutney and date-tamarind chutney. You can make Green chutney from fresh coriander leaves, mint leaves and green chilli. You blend them softly in a mixer grinder. At last, add a few drops of lemon juice and add salt according to taste.

Meanwhile, date- tamarind chutney is prepared from date, tamarind and jaggery. Firstly take a pot and pour unseeded date, tamarind and jaggery in it. Add one cup of water to it and boil it. Stir them properly and mix them well. Boil them for about ten minutes. Add some spices like fennel powder, cumin powder, red chilli and salt in it according to taste. Then simmer it for two minutes and remove it from heat. Now, wait, till the mixture is cool. Then blend the mixture smoothly in a mixer grinder and strain it well. The date tamarind chutney is ready to store and eat.

In this process, you can make chutney and top it on Aaloo tikkies. Then scatter finely chopped onions and chopped coriander leaves on it. Scattered some crunchy sev also on it. Now sprinkle some chat masala, red chilli powder according to your taste and pomegranate.
