Momos are the street food liked by many people. It is made of two types. The first is made from only vegetable stuffing called veg momos and the other is made from non-veg stuffing called non-veg momos. People enjoy this recipe always but it is also very easy to prepare this recipe at home. So we learn about this recipe. The recipe is easy to make but takes a lot of time to prepare.

What Is Veg Momos Recipe

Momos are generally made by the steamed process. The maida dough is forming the outer layer of momos. And the filling inside in the middle that’s are Cabbage, Carrot, Chillies, and Onion high flamed fried mixture. Sealing all this and steam it in a steamer. This recipe is ready and it can be served with red chutney or red garlic chutney.

Ingredients

Veg Momo's Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • 100 gm. Maida
  • 1 medium Onion (Finely chopped)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (finely chopped)
  • 1 inch Ginger (finely chopped)
  • 2 pcs. Green Chilli (finely chopped)
  • 2 pcs. Carrot (finely chopped)
  • 1 small Cabbage (Grated)
  • ½ tbsp Black pepper (powdered)
  • Salt – according to its taste
  • 1 tbsp Schezwan sauce
  • 1 pinch Ajinomoto

Chutney Recipe For An Exclusive Homemade Momos

  • 2 pcs. Tomato
  • 2 pcs. Red Chilies
  • 4 cloves Garlic
  • Salt – according to its taste

Instructions

How To Make Momos

  • Making The Dough – For making momos, we can divide it into two steps. First to prepare its dough and second, it’s stuffing.
  • For making dough firstly take a bowl and pour one and a half cups of all-purpose flour, maida, or plain flour in it.
  • Then add a half teaspoon of salt to it. Mix it and add some water to it for kneading well. After kneading flour grease it with a little refined oil. Put it on one side of the table. 
  • Making Veggie Stuffing – For stuffing required ingredients are one small-size cabbage and two carrots.
  • Now take a bowl and grated cabbage respectively. Then cut the carrots into small pieces.
  • To prepare stuffing take a non-stick kadhai and put it into a gas stove. Switch on the gas and heat the kadhai.
  • After heating pours three tablespoons of oil in it and heat it on low flame. Then pour three cloves of garlic in it and sauté. Add one-inch ginger and two chillies in it and sauté well.
  • Then add one chopped onion and sauté on high flame. Further, add small pieces of carrot and grated cabbage to this kadhai and stir well with a spatula.
  • The flame is almost on high flame. sauté them on high flame and then add a half tablespoon of black pepper powder in it. Now add salt to it according to your taste.
  • After that, add one tablespoon of schezwaan sauce and a pinch of Ajinomoto. Stir them well with a spatula and switch off the gas.
  • Stuffing & Shaping Momos – Now preparing momos to make dough of maida which prepared first. Take a small ball-sized momos dough and flatten them with the help of your palm.
  • Then dust with some maida and start to roll using a rolling pin. Roll this small dough almost medium then circle, around 4- 5 inches in diameters. Make sure you roll this dough from the sides and keep the center slightly thick.
  • Now take a tablespoon of prepared stuffing and place it in the centre of the small flattened dough. Now begins pleating the edges slowly and gathering everything. After this press in middle and seal the momos forming a bundle.
  • Now make all the dough like this and stuff inside well. Then spread some oil on the tray and arrange these momos in the tray carefully without touching each other.
  • Steaming Veg Momos – Switch on the gas and put it upon a steamer. When the steamer would be hot, the all momos were to be kept inside it safely.
  • After some time the momos get ready to serve. Now remove all momos from the steamer and arrange them on a plate. The unforgotten momos are served on plates with red bitter salty chutney. Enjoy and try this recipe with "Red chutney" 😊

Chutney Recipe For An Exclusive Homemade Momos

  • To prepare momos red chutney first take a small bowl. Wash two tomatoes and pour them into a small bowl. Add two cups of water to it and put it on a gas stove.
  • Then switch on the gas and cook until the tomatoes become soft. Then remove the heat and switch off the gas stove. Now peel out the skin of the tomatoes and pour it into a mixy jar.
  • Add two red chilli or red chilli powder, four cloves garlic and salt according to its taste. Then grind it from the mixy grinder and formed in smooth texture. Now remove it from the jar and set it in a chutney bowl. The momos chutney is prepared to serve. Let’s enjoy further…
