Jaljeera Recipe

Jaljeera is a classic Indian summer drink made with cumin, mint, spices, and tangy ingredients. Known for its cooling and digestive properties, this refreshing beverage is often served before meals or during hot weather to prevent dehydration and improve digestion.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon toasted cumin seeds.
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice or tamarind.
  • 1 teaspoon black salt
  • ½ teaspoon regular salt
  • ½ teaspoon ginger powder (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon chaat masala
  • 3–4 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes optional

Instructions

  • Toast cumin in low heat until it is fragrant, at next let it cool and pound to a fine powder.

  • Cleanse and prepare a fine paste of mint leaves with the help of water.

  • Add lemon juice or tamarind pulp for tanginess.

  • Add black & regular salt, chat masala, black peeper in paste to mint and combine.

  • Throw in some cold water and stir until it is all combined.
  • Ice cubes may be added when one wants and served ice cold.

Notes

  • Always roast cumin on low flame for best aroma
  • Adjust salt and tanginess to taste
  • Best served fresh for maximum flavor
