Equipment

  • KitchenAid® K400 Blender
  • Rubber spatula
  • Sharp knife
  • Pastry brush

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ or (180gms) cup  Maida (all-purpose flour)
  • ¾ or (90gms) cup cocoa powder
  • ½ or (3gms) tsp baking soda
  • 1tsp or (4gms) tsp baking powder
  • ¾ or (180ml) cup vegetable oil
  • 1 ½ or (300gms) cup caster sugar
  •   1 or (285gms) cup  curd
  • ½ or (2.5ml) tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ or (120ml) cup milk
  • 1 or (5ml) tsp vinegar

Instructions

  • Preparation:
You need to preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Also prepare two 9-inch cake pans by buttering, and dusting with all-purpose flour using a baking spray.
  • Whisking All Dry Ingredients:
After you take a bowl, add all dry ingredients one by one. The dry ingredients include flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, baking soda and castor sugar. Now whisk them using a whisk, paddle attachment or stirring until all the ingredients combine well.
  • Add Wet Ingredients:
Introduce vegetable oil, curd, vinegar and vanilla extract and milk to the dry ingredients and mix them well. You need to mix the ingredients until you get the ribbon consistency. If you find the consistency inappropriate, you can add more milk. Reduce your speed and stir well.
  • Bake:
You must put the cake batter evenly in the pan that you havedusted. Add butter paper to the pan first. After the batter is put in the pan,you can now bake it for 30 to 35 minutes. Take a toothpick and insert it in thecentre of the cake. If it comes out clean the chocolate cake is ready.
  • Frosting:
When you take out the cake from the oven, you need to cool it for sometime. Say 10 minutes. You can put the cake pan upside down on a plate or atray. When it cools, it will fall on the plate itself.
You can now do the chocolate frosting on your chocolate cake.
  • Variations
Milk- You can add buttermilk, oat milk, almond milk or coconut milk also.
Oil- You can use Vegetable oil, coconut melted oil, or canola.
