Make the Khoya Mixture

The traditional method of making pedas involves a lot of patience and time.

  • Add butter to a pan and bring it to heat.
  • Pour the milk into a large pot and keep simmering it.
  • Add a lot of sugar and keep cooking until you get a dough like consistency.

Keep cooking until the mixture begins to leave the pan. That does it and your Mawa or Khoya is ready.

Note – If you have brought readymade Mawa, you can skip this step.

The next step will include bringing the mixture to the shape of Peda.

  • Transfer the mixture from the Pan to a Bowl and let it cool down
  • When the mixture is slightly warm, add the cardamom powder
  • Add 4 to 5 tablespoons powdered sugar.

Important – Do not add sugar when the mixture is hot. It will make the mixture sticky. Wait till the mixture has cooled down.

  • Knead the mixture. You can taste it a bit and check if it requires more sugar.
  • Divide the mixture into equal parts based on the size of the Peda you require.
  • Roll these separate parts into balls.
  • Flatten the Peda and then stick the nuts at the center of the Peda.
